About

Hi, I’m Autumn, and welcome to my site!

I am a poet, journalist, and visual artist, working in public relations, communications, and media at UPMC in Pittsburgh, PA.

I have always loved words, loved weaving them into something winding, something that feels like an armor or a puzzle or a perfectly balanced equation of chemical reactions or like my family, me, but more.

I remember, at eight years old, when I gave my mom a journal, scribbled with a poem about my name. “A Rose in the Autumn,” a resilience poem if you will. I declared I wanted to be a writer. My mom responded, “but you’ve never written anything before.” I’ve tried to write everyday since, a persistence story if you will.

Q&A

Locations I Draw From: Pittsburgh, PA, where I live with my partner and my dog, who makes us a family, Hera. Boston, MA, where I grew up and where my family still lives, where I hold memories of my twin sister, Ana, my brother, Jack, and my parents close to my heart.

Things I Love: Small spoons, wrap dresses, pandas. Waffles, sweetgreen, and cooking elaborate meals that always seems to require as many pans as humanly possible, and weirdly, cleaning the mess after. Podcasts, phone calls with family.

What I Read: Modern poetry collections, essays on feminism, fashion, reality TV, perception, delusion, and the body. Fantasy novels and series, YA and adult mostly. Magical realism and the occasional nonfiction, realistic fiction, and sci-fi.

What I Create: Poetry and stories. Hand made cards and love notes. Paintings, instagram posts, and floral arrangements, dried, fresh, and fake alike. I’ve never denied a small craft project, and I absolutely adore a Canva design. Recently, an absurdly intricate Minecraft town full of pixelated parrots, cherry blossoms, and friends.

What I Do: Day to day, I work mostly remotely, writing about the people in a large healthcare system, and I volunteer at Broadsided, managing their Instagram and outreach. I go on three walks a day with my dog and boyfriend, to photosynthesize, and we always end our day with a pint of ice cream from our Ninja Creami, which we spin together in the kitchen, dancing to the sound of the drill pulverizing the ice.
